Review: Garmin nuvi 1340T

The nuvi range of PNDs has proven popular thanks to its full range of features and ease of use, but we never describe them as having the most streamlined or aesthetically appealing of designs.

However the new 1340T model seems to have broken the mould by shaving several grams of its weight and deploying a pocket friendly profile to match.

Even the car cradle has been reduced in size to allow for easier transportation and we can happily report it remained stable throughout our road tests.  The all in one TMC transmitter/car charger was also a lot less rigid and we didn’t need the external suction-cup antenna that plagued other models.

TomTom. Garmin. The two biggest names in satellite navigation. With each new generation of their products they manage to push in-car GPS to a new level.

But while it is great for the consumer to have to two such big companies competing to have the best devices on the market, it can also become confusing when trying to discern the differences between the two.
