TomTom Navigator 7 has been available on a number of selected HTC devices (OEM format) for quite a while now, but TomTom has only now finally bowed to public demand and decided to release the much anticipated version to the masses… well, kind of.
It is only a couple of months since TomTom last refreshed its XL range of mid-range PNDs. But while the last iteration carried forward some high-end features from the company’s flagship GO LIVE series it lacked that range’s most cutting-edge feature: HD Traffic.
The XL LIVE rectifies that, building a SIM card into the unit, giving users near real time access to traffic information.
TomTom. Garmin. The two biggest names in satellite navigation. With each new generation of their products they manage to push in-car GPS to a new level.
But while it is great for the consumer to have to two such big companies competing to have the best devices on the market, it can also become confusing when trying to discern the differences between the two.
If their devices are similarly priced and similarly specced how can you tell which is the best to go for? We lined up their best products, the TomTom GO 940 Live and the Garmin nuvi 765t to put them through their paces in a head to head challenge.
